Laptop Monday – Launches in Windsor!

When I left the corporate world I was surprised to discover that I loved working for myself.  I love the diversity of work – no one there to tell me I could not do something as it was not part of my job description.  I loved the flexibility which it gave me, so I could take and pick the boys up from school.  I definitely did not miss the internal processes or inability to make quick decisions and I definitely did not miss the accruals at the end of the financial year!

But the one thing which I did miss was my team.  I missed having someone to turn to and say what do you think about this or can we take 5 mins to brainstorm how this could work.  So, it is with this ethos in mind that I am delighted to announce the launch of the Laptop Monday group in Windsor, Ascot, Sunninghill, Runnymede and Egham.  What is this you ask?  Well simply it is a group of people who work from home getting together once a fortnight and enjoying the team spirit.  It is not a networking event, but of course there is some benefit in meeting the person next to you and if you got stuck then you have your team there to ask.  We are all there to work on our own project – if you wish to chat to someone when you get a cup of coffee about a work challenge; who won the football or even who left Strictly that week – then you can.

The challenge is on to find the best local coffee shops in and around the area, there are many for sure.  The criteria is simple – Free wifi, parking (tricky and won’t always be possible but we will try) and above all great coffee.  I am open to ideas on where we can go.

The process is simple, I will let you know when Laptop Monday – Windsor and Ascot is running, you let me know if you can join us and I will let you know the night before the secret location.  We then meet up and enjoy working alongside one another.  There  are no membership fees and no commitments – except to purchase your beverage of choice.

More Laptop Monday groups are popping up in the local area, you can already visit: Maidenhead, Marlow, Henley, Wokingham and Bracknell already and a new group has just opened up in Wallingford and Oxford, all of us are crusading against working at home alone.

Our first event will be on Monday 12 November 9.30 – 12.30 at a secret location near you, so if you fancy joining us, simply drop me an email and let me know.  To keep up to date on the next Laptop Monday events please also sign up to our newsletter at www.rimumarketing.co.uk.

See you there!

This sounds like a great idea – I miss working in an office of people sometimes too.
