Is your marketing strategy still on track?

Following on from our blog last month where we were talking about “Mindfulness” I wanted take another look at our marketing strategy for small businesses.  I know that a lot of businesses will have written their marketing strategy in January and now, half way through the year is a great time to be reviewing how things are going (oh my gosh is it really half way through the year!).

So, taking time out of a busy schedule to re-assess not only how our marketing is performing but also how the business is doing?  Is important.  Are the objectives we set ourselves in January being met?  Are these objectives still relevant or even where we are focusing our energy.  If the answer is yes, fantastic!  If the answer is no, then it is important to understand why not?  Sometimes things change and that is OK too, as that is the direction that you now wish to take.  Sometimes we just have not got around to focusing on things, understanding what is happening and then you choose the way forward.  Either carry on as you are, in which case change your objectives need to change to reflect the reality or realise you need to do something different.

That is the beauty of working for yourself, you decide whether you continue with your marketing in the way that you have started or you can change things. To mindfully review:

  1. Your objectives – how are you achieving vs the targets you set yourself at the beginning of the year?
  2. Your target audience – has this changed at all? Perhaps you have tapped into a new market or audience?
  3. Your marketing activity – is it working? Or if not, change it?
  4. Overall, how are you feeling with the progress of your business?

Your marketing plan is meant to change and flex with your business and as new opportunities present themselves, hopefully your strategy will enable you to take a longer term view, but accepting that things may need revising is also OK too.

Hoping that you can take some time out this month to mindfully assess how your marketing strategy, plan and business is performing.

If you would like some help or support in either writing your Marketing Strategy or plan please get in touch.

Enjoy!
