Our Brand Story

Discover the story behind RIMU Marketing, plus what is important to us and our clients.

How did RIMU Marketing come about?

Our brand story is fairly simple. The idea for RIMU Marketing came after a conversation with a friend of mine who was building her reflexology business. I was ready for a new challenge, I loved marketing but wanted a flexible working solution to work around my then, young family.

My friend needed some help driving awareness, increasing visibility of her business and gaining more clients. Facebook was kind of working, but in the process of changing, the business that was being generated had declined significantly. She asked me what else she could do with a limited marketing budget, I offered her some thoughts and ideas, the rest they say is history. The business has gone from strength to strength ever since.

How we help you

If you have a marketing challenge and need some help, we would love to hear from you!

Our Vision

Today, RIMU Marketing’s core ethos is very much about helping those passionate and ambitious small business owners, ready to take their business to the next level. It might not be just about getting more clients, driving more revenue or engaging more effectively with their clients, their challenge could also be reviewing their brand or diversifying.

Our Mission

It is our mission to help small business owners create inspiring and impactful marketing solutions in a way that works for them. For us the real reward is the “light bulb moment” when our clients see the impact of their marketing and they achieve the results they are looking for. That might be growth, increased visibility or helping their existing clients.

Our Values

Our business has grown over the years and I am really proud of what we have achieved. We continue to be curious, mindful of the world around us, support our teams and work collaboratively with our clients to achieve the right marketing solutions. We continue to learn more about the ever-changing digital marketing landscape and the impact this has.

What’s in a name?

From our founder, Sophie: Many people ask me where the name “RIMU Marketing” comes from. Rimu is a hardwood from New Zealand. So what is the connection? When thinking about a business name I wanted something which took the lead from nature. The connection to the Rimu tree symbolises the idea of setting strong roots and foundations for our clients, which is mirrored in the work that we do together. With these strong foundations we enable our client’s businesses to grow and flourish, through successful results-focused marketing solutions.

Sustainable Brand Story

The Environment

Post COVID many have taken the time to reflect on what is important to them and at RIMU Marketing we are no different. When working with a new client or supplier we wish to ensure that our values align, we are mindful of the environment, the world around us and supporting those less fortunate is a key part of this.

The annual COP Environmental Summits help us all to reflect a little more on the efforts we are making towards the environment. As a small business we don’t have an office, all of our teams work remotely, so we have a limited carbon footprint. Where possible we try to be conservative with printing, recycling as we go. With all of this in mind we wanted to do more.

So, we have set up an account with Ecologi an organisation that invests in environmental projects and as often as we can this year, we will buy more trees.

Community

Community has always been a core part of our focus at RIMU Marketing. We have supported different charities in a number of ways over the years and plan to continue doing so, whether it is through fund raising, offering marketing support, our time or even running the Windsor 10k.

One of the greatest achievements was in celebration of RIMU Marketing’s 5th birthday. On Thursday 25th April 2019 we held a charity fundraising event in Windsor for Smart Works Reading. It was an evening of celebration, networking, bubbles and of course cake! We raised just under £700 for Smart Works Reading to help their very worthy cause. To read more about what happen click here. More recently in September 2023, our founder Sophie ran the Windsor 10k and raised over £1,000 for The Baby Bank, a local charity, based in Maidenhead, Berkshire.
